ZYE YAG® 1064 nm in the treatment of

vascular lesions on the face

Carlos Eduardo de Freitas Jorge,

vascular surgeon

Belo Horizonte, MG - Brazil

This is a case report provided by the vascular surgeon

Dr. Carlos Eduardo de Freitas Jorge, from Belo Horizonte,

Minas Gerais, Brazil, using the ZYE YAG® platform at 1064 nm with the 3-10/VL handpiece.

Treatment:
  • The treatment of vascular lesions on the face is generally more complicated and must be more carefully evaluated than that of vascular lesions on the extremities. On the face, for example, the use of sclerotherapy can cause a reflux of the sclerotherapy agents into the arterioles, potentially resulting in serious complications, such as necrosis in certain areas. Greater benefits such as electrocoagulation are described in the literature, but even with this technology, adverse side effects can appear on the skin because of the low level of selectivity for blood vessels.

  • The use of LASER 1064 nm has been broadly indicated for photothermolysis, or in other words, the selective absorption of light by hemoglobin and relatively low absorption by melanin, thereby ensuring protection for the surrounding skin and tissue.

  • ZYE YAG® LASER technology at 1064 nm, together with the 3-10/VL handpiece, with sapphire window cooling (COOL-&-CLEAR® system), allows transdermic treatment of veins on the face and extremities, with the specificity necessary to ensure safe results.
