Acne Treatment with ProDeep®

Dr. Valéria Campos used the ZYE® platform, with the ProDeep® handpiece.

Treatment:

• Acne is described as an inflammatory process of the skin that occurs when certain sebaceous glands become blocked with oil and dead skin cells. When these cells are blocked, they cannot eliminate impurities and end up serving as a focus for bacteria and more oil, resulting in blackheads and pimples, which are characteristic of acne, as well as nodules and pustules.

• The treatment of acne depends on the severity of the condition. Available treatments include creams, gels, soaps, and oral antibiotics, hormonal therapies, as well as isotretinoin.

• Procedures such as peeling, dermabrasion, and lasers can also be useful for treatment. The ProDeep® handpiece, compatible with ETHEREA-MX® and ZYE® platforms, is a Nd:Yap laser, 1340nm - a wavelength exclusive to VYDENCE Medical® - with greater penetration depth than other non-ablative fractional lasers. With long pulses, it is capable of generating a more intense coagulation effect at a deeper level, including within the glands.

• The patient used isotretinoin prior to treatment, without satisfactory results. Three sessions with ProDeep® were performed with a 30-day interval.
