Micropulsed Nd: YAG 1064 nm (Dynamics®) for post-burn wound treatment in patient phototype V

Dr. Raquel Felix Feital

Dermatologist – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Dr. Raquel Felix used the ETHEREA-MX® platform, with LongPulse® handpieces in Dynamics® mode.

Treatment:

Burns are traumatic wounds caused, most often, by thermal, chemical, electrical or radioactive agents. They act on the covering tissues, causing partial or total destruction of the skin and its appendages, and can reach deeper layers, such as subcutaneous tissue, muscles, tendons and bones. Burns are classified according to their depth and size.

The treatment of burns has always been a challenge, both due to their severity and the multiple complications that normally occur proportional to the time needed for the injury to heal. Therapeutic laser can be a valuable resource in the treatment of burns due to its ability to induce rapid and organized healing.

The LongPulse® Nd:Yag 1064nm handpiece, compatible with the ETHEREA-MX® and ZYE® platforms, allows working with long pulses (milliseconds, in LongPulse® mode) for vascular treatments, hair removal and also with short pulses (micropulsed – DYNAMICS mode ®) managing to stimulate local healing.

The case below reports the treatment of a 2nd degree burn of a male patient, phototype V, aged 40 years. Dr. Raquel performed two laser sessions with drug delivery PDRN 1ml, with interval of 13 days between the sessions, with the following parameters:
