Use of minimally invasive 1,064 nm and 2,940 nm

lasers for the treatment of Lipedema

Dr. Heidi Feitoza,

Angiologist and Vascular Surgeon,

São Paulo, Brazil

Dr. Heidi Feitoza used the ZYE® YAG platform with the 5-15/LT® optical fiber and DualMode® handpiece.

Treatment:
  • Lipedema is a chronic condition that causes abnormal fat accumulation, mainly in the legs, thighs and hips. Unlike obesity, it is not related to excess calorie consumption, but to hormonal and genetic factors. Often confused with cellulite, lipedema can impair quality of life, causing physical and emotional limitations.

  • Lipedema control requires a multidisciplinary approach. Non-invasive treatments include balanced diets, exercise, lymphatic drainage, use of elastic compression and laser. For more advanced stages, vascular surgeries and specific liposuction are the most effective invasive treatments.

  • High-powered lasers have the ability to penetrate deeply into the tissue, stimulate lipolysis, improve circulation, and promote superficial skin regeneration, providing symptom relief, reducing fat volume, and improving skin appearance.

  • The 5-15/LT® fiber optic handpiece is compatible with the ZYE® YAG platform, by utilizing the 1,064 nm wavelength, penetrates deeply, breaking down fat cells and promoting skin tightening. Combined with the Erbium DYNAMICS® micropulse mode, exclusive to ZYE® platform, the DualMode® handpiece with 2,940 nm Er:YAG laser enhances superficial skin cell renewal, improving the appearance of treated areas without pain or downtime.

  • In the case below, Dr. Heidi Feitoza performed four sessions of her Dual Lift protocol, combining the 5-15/LT® technology in INTENSE® mode and DualMode® in Er: DYNAMICS® mode, associated with the application of 1 ml of PDRN per thigh. The interval between sessions was 15 days.
