Post-operative facial scar treatment

with Nd:YAP laser - ProDeep®

This is a report on a treatment carried out by dermatologist Dr Bertrand Pusel from La Colle sur Loup, France, using the ETHEREA-MX® platform, with the ProDeep® Handpiece.

Treatment:

• The presence of a scar is part of the body's recovery process after surgery. Its appearance may vary according to location, depth, shape, length, width and genetic characteristics. The location of these scars can directly affect a patient's quality of life.

• Among the treatments described in the literature to improve the appearance of post-surgical scars on the face are different light sources, such as LED, IPL and lasers, including fractional ablative and non-ablative and their combinations.

• The ProDeep ® handpiece, compatible with the ETHEREA-MX® and ZYE® platforms, works with a wavelength of 1340nm – Nd:Yap. It is a non-ablative fractional laser, with little absorption by water, being deeper than the others. Allows the treatment of recent and late scars, without restriction to phototypes and with little or no downtime.

• Dr. Pusel performed 2 previous sessions with PDL for vascular treatment and then 5 sessions of ProDeep®, at monthly intervals. In each session, 2 passes were made with the parameters and sequency described below.
