Treatment

Venous lakes are benign vascular malformations characterized by abnormal proliferation of blood vessels. In the region of two lips, it represents a therapeutic challenge due to its high vascularization, aesthetic impact and risk of bleeding.

The main risk factors include aging, chronic sun exposure, vascular fragility and repeated trauma to the lip region. A condition is more common in adults and children, with greater prevalence in individuals with lower phototypes.

Among the treatments available, we highlight surgical excision, electrocoagulation, sclerotherapy and, in an increasingly safe and effective way, or laser treatment. The long-pulse Nd:YAG 1,064 nm laser is widely used due to its high affinity with deep vascular structures, preserving adjacent tissues and offering excellent aesthetic results. The Nd:YAG action mechanism is based on selective photothermalization of hemoglobin, promoting coagulation and collapse of the dilated vessel, with progressive reabsorption of the lesion.

The LongPulse® handpiece is a long and short pulse Nd:YAG 1,064 nm laser compatible with the ETHEREA-MX® and ZYE® platforms. The procedure usually causes pain or discomfort, is minimally invasive and does not require significant recovery time. The number of sessions to achieve the ideal result varies, on average, from 1 to 5 sessions, with a monthly interval between them.
