Face photoaging treatment with IPL-Sq®

Dr. Emma Mills,

Advanced Aesthetician,

Oxford, UK

Dr. Emma Mills used the ETHEREA-MX® platform, with the IPL-Sq® handpiece.

Treatment:
  • Photoaging, skin aging resulting from sun exposure over the years, causes the appearance of hyperpigmentation disorders such as melanoses and senile lentigines, as well as vascular fragility and the presence of wrinkles.

  • The photoaging treatment can range from chemical peels with depigmenting agents and antioxidants to LASERs, such as Q-Switched, CO2, Er:YAG or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

  • The light emitted by the IPL is attracted to melanin present in the pigmented lesions and to hemoglobin present in the superficial vessels, causing heat production (selective photothermolysis) and, consequently, vessel closure and spot removal.

  • The IPL-Sq® handpiece, compatible with the ETHEREA-MX® and ZYE® platforms, has a square pulse (Square-Wave Pulse®), a large pulse time variation (5-100 ms) and filters from 400 to 695 nm that allow treatment adjustment for patients with lighter or darker pigments safely and effectively.
