Treating burn scars with IPL-Sq® and ProDeep®

Maisa Pamponet, dermatologist

Salvador, BA - Brazil

This is a case report provided by the dermatologist Maisa

Pamponet, from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, using the ETHEREA-MX® platform with the IPL-Sq® and ProDeep® handpieces.

Treatment
  • Burns are responsible for a significant portion of absences from work and often have functional and cosmetic consequences. Their treatment varies according to the seriousness of the injury, ranging from outpatient treatment to hospitalization. The prevention of hypertrophic scars and keloids is very important to avoid limitations on movement and social interaction.

  • Intensive Pulsating Light has been described as a resource to be used in treating burn scars.

  • The IPL-Sq® handpiece, which is compatible with the ETHEREA-MX® and ZYE® platforms, has a square pulse (Square-Wave Pulse®), a broad range of pulse times (5 - 100 ms) and 540 nm and 580 nm filters (among others) that allow the safe and effective adjustment of the treatment for patients with lighter or darker skin tones.

  • The non-ablative fractional ProDeep® LASER, which is compatible with the same platforms, with a 1340 nm wavelength, has lower absorption by water than others on the market (thereby allowing greater penetration), and this wavelength is absorbed by hemoglobin, helping the IPL-Sq® in treating the color of the lesion, as well as favoring improvement in its appearance.

Use of IILC with Triancil only on the hypertrophic scars. Interval: 30 days.

Before and after - 5 sessions
